Tips to make your examination process easier:
Before your appointment
Make sure you meet the FAA medical standards for the medical certificate class that you are requesting. For example, if you are concerned about meeting the visual requirements, visit your optometrist and have your prescription checked before your flight physical.
Make sure your blood pressure and any chronic medical issues are controlled prior to your physical.
If you have a special issuance or diabetes you will likely need a status report from your treating physician prior to your exam.
If you have a new DUI, call to discuss with your AME before your appointment. The FAA will need all court documents submitted with your medical.
Do you have a new medical diagnosis or medication? Call before your appointment to give yourself time to gather information as well as your AME time to research what is needed.
